Dated January 20, 1922, this glass negative records the White House during Warren G. Harding's presidency, which began in March 1921. It comes from the National Photo Company, a Washington firm that photographed the capital's buildings and streets in the early twentieth century for sale to residents and visitors. The title was supplied by the company and has not been independently verified. Streaks and other blemishes on the glass reflect the natural deterioration of its original coatings, which can be seen as the image ages.
