Catalogued as number 44731, this glass negative is dated June 19, 1922, though the record notes that the date comes from unverified information supplied by the National Photo Company, the Washington, D.C. commercial studio whose work makes up the collection. The company was active in the early twentieth century, photographing the city's streets, buildings, and public life. The plate reached the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Its surface shows streaks and blemishes from natural deterioration of the original coating, which may also appear in any print made from it.
