Tyler Davidson Fountain, the bronze centerpiece of Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati, anchors this wide view. The fountain was cast in Munich and dedicated in 1871, a gift from Henry Probasco in memory of local businessman Tyler Davidson. Two glass negatives, left and right, were joined to make this panorama, a format the Detroit Publishing Company used often for American city views made between about 1900 and 1915. The picture shows how the busy downtown plaza was arranged around the monument.
