A lakeside road and shoreline park on Lake Erie's edge in northeast Cleveland anchor this view, which the record dates to roughly 1900 to 1910. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm known for its large-format views of American towns, parks and scenery in those years, made many such images for sale to travelers and tourists. Cleveland's lakefront parks were popular leisure spots at the time, and street scenes like this one show how the city presented its waterfront to visitors in the early twentieth century.
