A small color lithograph from 1914 asks Bavarians for money to support soldiers' homes, the recreation and welfare houses set up for troops during the early months of the First World War. The title ends with "Stuck," which the record appears to use as the artist's name, most likely the Munich painter Franz von Stuck, who was well known in Bavaria at the time. Posters like this one show how wartime charity was run through public appeals in German cities, with local cultural figures lending their names and talents to fundraising. The subject tags also point to the wider home-front effort of 1914 to 1920, when money, goods and volunteer labor were mobilized for men in uniform.
