What sets this card apart is its plain white border, the feature that gives it the catalog title White Borders. The Library's staff devised that title, since the card itself is part of the T206 series issued by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911. The cards were packed with cigarettes, so buyers found them by chance and often saved them, which helped make the set one of the most recognized early baseball card issues. Its color printing, done with relief and halftone methods, shows how far commercial illustration had advanced by the 1910s.
