The white border that gives this card its name distinguishes it within the T206 series, which the American Tobacco Company packed with its cigarettes from 1909 to 1911. The set includes more than 500 players, making it one of the largest baseball card issues of its era. Cards like this one were inserted into tobacco packs as a bonus, which helped build fan interest in major league players and their teams. The set is also remembered for its Honus Wagner card, which was reportedly withdrawn at the player's request.
