The record for this glass negative gives the subject only as "school children in classroom," a title the cataloger devised, so the school and town are unidentified. It was made between 1915 and 1925 and carries Detroit Publishing Company number K 2003. The company, based in Detroit, was known for large-format views of American towns, landscapes, and rail routes, and its negatives reached the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado. A classroom scene from that period offers a glimpse of everyday school life in the early twentieth century.
