The Golden Horn, the narrow inlet that divides the old city of Constantinople, is the focus here, shown across its busy water. This photochrom print comes from the Detroit Publishing Company, which obtained American rights to the Swiss color process and sold such views to buyers in the United States. Listed in the company's 1905 catalog under number 16559 in its Turkey series, the picture itself dates from the 1890s. Scenes like this gave viewers a colorful look at the Ottoman capital, now Istanbul.
