The vice president's room in the U.S. Capitol was the office of the official who presides over the Senate. Dated between 1918 and 1921, this glass negative falls within Thomas R. Marshall's term as vice president, and it came from the National Photo Company, a Washington studio that documented federal buildings and officials. The room's title was supplied with the negative and remains unverified. Faint streaks and blemishes mark the plate, the result of natural deterioration in its original coatings.
