Unlike the exterior views on this board, this picture turns inside Trinity Church, the Episcopal parish at the head of Wall Street. The church's Gothic Revival building, designed by Richard Upjohn and completed in the 1840s, was the tallest structure in the city for a time, and its interior was known for its carved woodwork and stained glass. The photograph was made by Jos. Byron, a New York commercial studio that recorded the city's buildings and street life in the early 1900s. Its record notes that some catalog details are unverified, so the exact date and circumstances of the exposure should be read with that caveat.
