The Brooklyn National Grounds, the home park of the borough's National League club, is the subject here, and this March 1913 view comes just weeks before the team opened its new Ebbets Field in April. Press photographers working for the Bain News Service, whose negatives form the George Grantham Bain Collection, recorded ballparks and sporting events for newspapers of the period. A picture taken at the start of the season shows the grounds' layout and grandstands before the crowds and the new park arrived.
