A Saturday afternoon radio show, Artists on the Air, ran at 4 p.m. on KUTA in Salt Lake City, and this poster announces it. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, commissioned posters like this one to promote its community arts activity during the Depression. Radio was then the central home entertainment, so a program that brought local artists to the microphone reached listeners who might never visit a gallery. The silkscreen color reflects the project's practice of producing bold, economical posters in quantity.
