This view shows the cabin interior of a yacht catalogued as "Suedon," a spelling the archive flags with *[sic]*, so the vessel's correct name may differ. The picture is an 8 x 10 inch glass negative made sometime between 1904 and 1910 by the Detroit Publishing Company, a firm known for large-format views of American places, people, and everyday life in that period. Interior views like this one were valued for showing the furnishings and fittings of pleasure craft to a public curious about how wealthy owners lived afloat. The print was a 1949 gift to the State Historical Society of Colorado before it entered the Library of Congress collection.
