The river mouth at Kuala Terengganu, with its customhouse and harbor entrance, is the detail that sets this view apart. The town sits where the Terengganu River meets the South China Sea on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, and it served as the state capital and a trading port for coastal and river shipping. The record dates the print to about 1943, when Japan occupied the peninsula, so the waterfront shows a working port during wartime. The notes give the number 472, a reference that helps place the image among other numbered views of the region.
