Hotel Virginia, a seaside hotel in Long Beach, California, is the subject of this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, which dates to roughly 1905 to 1915. Long Beach was growing into a popular Pacific resort in those years, drawing visitors by rail and drawn by its beaches and mild climate. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made this negative, produced large numbers of views like it for travel promotion and postcards. The negative came to the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
