This color lithograph is a memorial sheet for the 14th Regiment of the New York State Militia, a unit raised in Brooklyn, and its title names the regiment rather than a single battle. Published in New York by Charles Hart in 1865, the year the war ended, it belongs to a wave of commemorative prints that let soldiers, families, and hometown supporters keep a record of units that had served. Its subject headings point to Union military personnel and to the campaigns and battles of the Civil War, so the sheet is best read as a tribute to the men of a particular regiment and to the wider conflict that defined them.
