Cincinnati's Music Hall, a red-brick landmark on Elm Street, opened in 1878 as a home for the city's large choral and orchestral gatherings, including the long-running May Festival. This glass plate negative, made by the Detroit Publishing Company sometime between 1900 and 1910, records the hall during the early twentieth century, when the company was documenting American cities and public buildings across the country. The large 8 by 10 inch glass plate was capable of recording fine detail, so the architecture and the room itself come through with unusual clarity.
