Prologue to Glory, E.P. Conkle's stage play about Abraham Lincoln's young manhood, is the subject of this silkscreen poster. It was produced by the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration in New York, and a date stamp on the back reads January 5, 1939. Posters like this one advertised productions of the Federal theater Project, which employed actors, writers and designers during the Depression. Silkscreen let artists print bold flat color in relatively small runs, a practical choice for public advertising at the time.
