Rock Creek Bridge, a span over the wooded stream that runs through northwest Washington, is the subject here, and its builder, the Hardaway Construction Company, is named in the title. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that sold views of the capital to residents and visitors, made this glass negative sometime between 1910 and 1925, though the title comes from the company's own records and has not been independently verified. Streaks and blemishes on the plate result from the original coating deteriorating over time, and they are part of the object's physical history.
