Winter cold is the selling point of this 1924 lithograph, whose title, *It is warmer down below*, invites Londoners to trade the street for the tube. Austin Cooper designed it, and the shelflist card in the record ties it to Electric Railway House, the company's headquarters. In the 1920s the Underground's publicity office commissioned artists to turn routine travel notices into bold color posters, and this one shows the network presenting its trains as a warm refuge from the weather. The Dangerfield Printing Company produced it in London.
