This is a commercial advertisement rather than a view of a fairground. A large color poster printed in Cleveland in 1885 for the H.T. Stock Food Co., it was issued by the lithography firm W.J. Morgan & Co. Its title points to Rosa Bonheur's well-known painting of Paris horse dealers, which was widely reproduced in the nineteenth century, and the caption card credits her, though that attribution is unverified. The sheet was meant for billboards, and its oversized format, shipped rolled in a crate, shows how popular art was adapted to sell livestock feed.
