A stereo card showing the red sandstone fins of Garden of the Gods, a park about five miles from Colorado Springs, with a caption describing one of its towers as 330 feet high. The card belongs to a series of Rocky Mountain scenes issued under Eugene Brandt's name and published by William I. Marshall, and an ink note on it, dated October 14, 1876, records an owner named R.D. Leidel. Stereographs like this were popular parlor entertainment in the 1870s, offering a three-dimensional view of western landscapes that most viewers would never see in person.
