The yacht *Otsiketa* is the subject of this glass negative, made around 1906 at Put-in-Bay, the resort community on South Bass Island in western Lake Erie. In those years the island drew steamer excursions and summer visitors from nearby cities, and its harbor was a gathering place for pleasure craft. The Detroit Publishing Company, which issued postcards and photochrom views of resorts and scenic places across the country, made many such pictures for travelers to buy. Its 8 by 10 inch glass plates were a common format for this work, and this one preserves the boat as a record of the era's leisure travel on the Great Lakes.
