This print shows Fort Harrison on the Wabash River in what was then the Indiana Territory, near the present-day city of Terre Haute. William Henry Harrison had the fort built in 1810 as a supply post on the frontier. In September 1812, during the War of 1812, a small garrison under Zachary Taylor held it against a night attack by Native American warriors, a defense that became a point of pride for the young nation. The record gives no date for the print, and its shelflist card links it to the name Modesill & Hager, an attribution that has not been verified.
