Outfielder Jimmy Sheckard, pictured at the Polo Grounds in New York while playing for the Chicago National League club, was photographed in 1906, the year the Cubs won 116 games and the pennant. The print comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, a body of pictures from Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers with news photographs in the early 1900s. The caption card also names shortstop Joe Tinker, a teammate, so researchers should treat the identification with some caution.
