Children recite lessons inside a roughly built schoolhouse in Jamaica, and the caption identifies them as "native Jamaican," a label typical of travel views from this period. The card was issued by the H.C. White Co., a publisher of stereographs, which were paired images viewed through a lens to create a sense of depth for home audiences. Around 1904, many such cards showed the Caribbean and other distant places to armchair travelers, so this scene reflects how outside viewers chose to picture everyday schooling. The date and caption details come from an older record and have not been independently verified.
