The title on this card places the Hotel Wyncliffe at Goodwyk, a misprint the record corrects to Goodwick, a harbor town on Fishguard Bay in north Pembrokeshire. The picture is a photochrom, a color process developed in Switzerland in the 1880s that built up a finished image from several stone lithographic printings made from a photograph. The Detroit Publishing Co., which issued its catalog of these views in 1905, sold such prints to American buyers, so the card reflects how Welsh towns were presented to travelers at the turn of the century.
