Few posters from the Federal Art Project state their purpose as plainly as this one, which advertises a national exhibition of prints by artists employed under the program. The image was printed in color by silkscreen, a stencil process the project favored because it was inexpensive and easy to reproduce in quantity. Its title, "Prints for the People," reflects the Depression-era belief that art should reach ordinary workers and not only wealthy collectors. The Library of Congress holds the poster in its Work Projects Administration collection.
