This silkscreen poster advertises an exhibition of WPA watercolors and prints at the Federal Art Gallery in Boston, and its monogram, "HG," appears on the design. Federal Art Project workshops used silkscreen to produce inexpensive, bold posters that could be printed in quantity and hung in public places to draw people to free art shows. The poster's date is most likely 1936 or 1937, and a date stamp on the back reads November 8, 1937. It is catalogued in Christopher DeNoon's *Posters of the WPA* as number 36, and it is preserved in the Library of Congress's WPA poster collection.
