The Federal Art Gallery in Boston is named plainly on this poster, which announced an exhibition of watercolors and prints in 1936. It is a silkscreen print in flat, layered color, a method the Federal Art Project's poster unit used because it could produce bold images cheaply in large runs for display in shops and public buildings. The monogram "HG" marks it as the work of an individual artist within the project rather than a commercial job. A date stamp on the back, May 5, 1938, shows the sheet was still being handled two years after the show it advertised.
