This bust portrait shows William McAdoo in profile, facing left, in a photograph dated to about October 25, 1910. The catalog card calls him "chief magistrate, New York City," but that title is unverified and does not match his career. McAdoo was a lawyer who built the Hudson and Manhattan tunnels linking Manhattan with New Jersey, and he later served as Secretary of the Treasury under Woodrow Wilson. The print is a useful record of a figure who was prominent in New York business and Democratic politics in the years before the First World War.
