Taken from the Lincoln Memorial, this 1925 view looks out over one of the monuments on the National Mall, though the record does not say which one. The National Photo Company, active in Washington from about 1907 to 1932, made many such views for tourists and souvenir sales. The memorial itself had been dedicated in 1922, so by 1925 it was a fairly new landmark and a common vantage point. The image survives on a glass negative, and the record notes streaks and blemishes from deterioration of the original coating, which are typical of plates of this age.
