Three Catholic prelates are named in the title of this 1924 glass negative: Cardinals Patrick Hayes, Dennis O'Connell, and George Mundelein. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio that documented national life in the early twentieth century, produced the image. Cardinal Hayes led the Archdiocese of New York, Mundelein led Chicago, and O'Connell served as rector of the North American College in Rome, so a gathering of all three was notable at the time. The glass plate itself shows the streaks and blemishes that come with age.
