Old Faithful Inn, built in 1903-1904 on the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, was designed by Robert Reamer to sit close to the geyser that gives it its name. Its towering lobby of logs and lashed timbers was meant to look like it grew out of the forest, and it still stands as one of the largest log structures in the world. Visitors in the early 1900s came by stagecoach and then by automobile, so the inn quickly became a symbol of the park's growing appeal as a destination for travelers.
