A single drawing credited to Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-based artist whose career is usually placed in the 1760s through the 1780s, has a record that points in several directions. It is dated 1750, yet its subject tags describe drawbridges in Tokyo and foreign visitors there between 1850 and 1900. Koryūsai is best known for woodblock prints of beautiful women and courtesans, so a sketch of bridges and foreign visitors would be unusual for him. The date, attribution, and subject terms may reflect cataloguing rather than the drawing's true origins, so they are worth treating as provisional.
