Catalogued under a plain title, this drawing is tied in its record to a drawbridge in Tokyo and to foreign visitors, which points to a view of the city's waterways in the later 19th century. The record credits Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-period artist known for ukiyo-e prints, with working years from 1764 to 1788. Those dates don't match the 1750 date listed, so the attribution and dating are worth treating with caution. Edo was renamed Tokyo in 1868, and as the city opened to foreign residents and travelers, such scenes drew outside interest.
