Taken on June 18, 1923, this glass negative shows the medical offices of the Veterans Bureau, an agency created in 1921 to consolidate federal care for former servicemen. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington, D.C., during the 1920s and 1930s, documented government buildings and everyday office life for public and press use. The title comes from data written on the negative and has not been independently verified. Streaks and blemishes visible on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coating, not from the scene itself.
