Few 1904 campaign posters set a presidential ticket on the page as plainly as this color lithograph, printed in San Francisco by the Louis Roesch Co. Theodore Roosevelt was seeking a term of his own after taking office in 1901 on William McKinley's death, and he ran with Charles W. Fairbanks, an Indiana senator, against Democrat Alton B. Parker. Inexpensive lithographs like this were pasted in shop windows and public halls to make candidates' names familiar before election day.
