Pitchers Eppa Rixey, at left, and Erskine Mayer, at center, stand beside an unidentified Phillies player in this view taken at the Polo Grounds in New York. The Giants were the home team there, so the Philadelphia players were visitors. Rixey later won election to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and both pitchers were on the Phillies staff in the early 1910s. The picture comes from the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency whose glass negatives are held in the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. The 1913 date is bracketed in the record, so it is an estimate.
