A horse-drawn trolley and its team hold the middle of this street view in Winfield, Kansas, a county seat on the prairie. The record dates the print only approximately to around 1900, so the scene may fall a few years either side of the turn of the century. Horse- and mule-drawn streetcars were common in American towns from the 1860s, and most were replaced by electric trolleys within a few decades. Look closely at the harness and the street to see how people got around before the automobile.
