A funeral at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Navy's large shipbuilding and repair complex on the East River, is the subject of this glass negative from the Bain News Service. The record gives no date, and the title comes from unverified notes made by the agency, so the occasion and the people involved remain uncertain. The Bain agency sold news photographs to newspapers in New York and elsewhere in the early twentieth century, and it documented many civic and military events, including naval ceremonies that drew crowds and press attention.
