This stereograph shows a coach setting out from Gardiner, the town at the park's northern entrance, for a tour of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Around 1904, visitors usually reached the area by rail, then took horse-drawn coaches the rest of the way, and the Roosevelt Arch, dedicated at the entrance in 1903, marked the threshold. Stereo cards like this one were sold for parlor viewing, so they carried the park's appeal into homes far from the Rockies. The record credits the card to B.L. Singley under a U.S. copyright entry, though its caption details are unverified.
