This print reproduces one of the Fatima Team Cards, a set issued in 1913 by the Liggett & Myers Company, which marketed the Fatima cigarette brand. Tobacco makers of the period tucked small cards into cigarette packs to encourage repeat purchases, and these cards, catalogued as T200, showed players grouped by club. The gelatin silver print preserves the card's image and typography at a size that makes the photographic portraits and team lettering easy to study. Collectors today value the set as an early record of the ballplayers and clubs of the 1910s, and the card's commercial origin reflects how closely baseball and tobacco advertising were linked in that era.
