Unlike the single-player portraits on this board, these are team cards, group images of an entire club that the Liggett & Myers Company issued as inserts in packs of Fatima cigarettes. Tobacco makers of the 1910s packed cards with their products to encourage repeat purchases, and the 1913 Fatima series is among the best known of the era's team sets. The prints are gelatin silver, a darkroom process valued for its tonal range, and they come from the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection at the Library of Congress.
