Little is recorded about the subject of this glass negative beyond its title, "Jerry Frankel," and a date of August 7, 1924, both taken from information the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and not yet independently verified. The Washington, D.C., firm produced a large body of commercial and news photographs in the early twentieth century, and its glass plates were given to the Library of Congress in 1947 by Herbert A. French. Viewers should expect some streaks and blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings on the glass.
