Three surviving glass negatives record this panoramic view of the Vicksburg, Mississippi, waterfront, and one of them shows a stern-wheel steamboat named *Falls City* tied up along the river. The full panorama was originally four sections, but the right-hand piece is not in the collection, so the view ends abruptly. Vicksburg's river landing was a center of steamboat traffic on the Mississippi in the early 1900s, when stern-wheelers moved freight and passengers along the river. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made many such views of American towns and waterways for sale to travelers, produced this one.
