The Hill Building gives this glass negative its particular subject, a Washington office building that the National Photo Company recorded in the years before and just after 1920. The title comes from the company's own label and has not been independently verified, while the date rests on neighboring negatives from the same range. The emulsion has aged unevenly, leaving streaks and blemishes that add a weathered texture to a view of the capital during a period of rapid change.
