A first-floor plan for two office buildings on 15th Street NW in Washington, D.C., built for the real estate developer B.F. Saul, this sheet shows how the ground floor was laid out across two adjoining lots on Square 218. George N. Ray, of the Washington firm Waggaman & Ray, signed the drawing, which was made as a blueprint with graphite notations. Office construction in the city grew during the 1920s, and plans like this one record how developers and architects fit commercial space onto urban lots. The drawing is part of the firm's archive, so it also documents the working practice of a busy architectural office of the period.
