A tall color woodcut poster, about 204 centimeters high, shows acrobats performing on horseback, a stunt that was a staple of nineteenth-century circus rings. Printed in Buffalo, New York, in 1870 by Warren, Johnson & Co., it carries the signature Morse, though that attribution comes from an old caption card and has not been verified. Posters like this were pasted on walls and fences to announce a show before it arrived, and their bold colors were meant to catch the eye from across a street.
